Highlights: The main museum floor has several trains you can view from the outside and a few you can walk through. Upstairs holds the toy train collection, model railroad, and Thomas the Train play area, a favorite spot for toddler and young train fans. In the spring through fall months, you can take a 45-minute ride on an old train that runs along the river.
Food: Food and drinks are not allowed inside the museum or on the train ride. However, the California Railroad Museum is location in old town Sacramento, so there are plenty of restaurants and specialty hot dog shops to choose from nearby.
